Island Park

Oh my goodness, I just uploaded all the pictures I took(well minus the ones when my camera died I took on my dad's...) and holy cow, I think all these pictures make up for the lack of picture taking I've had over the years.

Well, the Boston's all got together in Island Park for Pioneer Day this year...and let's just say it was a really good time! Andria and her family, Brian and his family, and Kelsi drove up earlier than we did. We left early on Thursday morning (after dropping off Meli and Kona at the doggy hotel.. it was depressing!) and got to Island Park that afternoon. After waiting for my parents and the boys to get there the 6 of us headed to West Yellowstone to do some shopping.

I was really excited to finally get to see the Philly Bostons! Lillian is my favorite 1 year old niece(...don't worry Audrey is my favorite 1 year old and 2 month old niece). She loves people! She especially loves her grandpa.

Thursday night the whole family headed down the road to Mack's Inn for a dinner and show...

...the food was REALLY good. Could be I was starving but it was delicious.

This is where the pictures from my dad's camera would be entered, Daren helped me put some caramel sauce on my ice cream and ended up having the whole bottle explode all over me. I was very thankful they brought me out more ice cream. They even washed my hands for me!

Audrey was SO good during the show. I was not expecting it to work out so well. She sat on my lap the entire time completely glued to the singing. She slept for a little bit as well.

The show was really entertaining. It was a spoof on Les Miserables. I can't really do the show justice by talking about it...just know it got Michael laughing hysterically.

This guy/girl was our favorite! HeShe was hilarious. He came out during the intermission and we got to get pictures with him. This is everyone doing their sexy face....

Of course, Daren HAD to go fishing. Here he is sporting the fishing gear...good grief.

On Friday we got to float down the river like we did when I was little! It was so much fun...right? After the freezing cold morning we had we didn't think we'd ever make it. But it ended up being really hot. And a select few of us got sunburns.

We were ready to be done with it when there was about an hour left (it was 3 hours total)...I rowed my little arms off.

Friday night we had a mexican fiesta....mock Cafe Rio pulled pork for dinner and a pinata. Again, the camera was dead so I took pictures with my dad's camera but it is not with me. So you won't get to see those pictures.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early(Me and Kelley woke up extra early and went running...) and headed to Yellowstone. Daren stayed back and went fishing (SHOCK), Kelsi was very sick from the sunburn from rafting so her and Michael also didn't go.

We saw a lot of animals....

Saturday night the McCauls and the Gordons made dinner. It was a delicious steak/chicken and potatoes! Yum, Yum! Finished up with some cobbler... But we were all so worn out we called it a night fairly early..

Sunday morning we got up and packed and cleaned up. The McCauls and the Philly Bostons even went to church. 2,000 people were in attendance!!!! Then we made our venture homeward.

The 2nd generation Daniel Boston kids (Kelsi, Me, Michael and AJ- and Daren...) and the parents went to Bear World in Rexburg on the way back.

Daren made friends with the ducks in the parking lot... besides that one bit him..

It was really cool having the bears just walking right up to the car. Bummer you can't roll the windows down!

They even had a petting zoo. Daren LOVED this part. He wanted to touch every single animal. I was getting scared so I didn't touch anything.

We then left and hit Red Robin in Idaho Falls before booking it home. I'm glad to be back home...but I sure do miss my family already!

I Love Me Some Logan Summers

I love summers here in Logan! Nothing is better than the cold mornings and the toasty afternoons. Since Daren and I have yet to get our AC unit installed(what are we waiting for...Good question, ask Daren) we have gone on many walks with the dogs just to get out of the house. They are quite spoiled pups! However, the other night Daren wanted to go camping...so we compromised and went on a hike instead.

I was super nervous again we just decided to let the dogs run freely, without being on leashes. Apparently Meli makes Kona "bad"(says Daren)... But it was cute to see my little pup jumping around like a little jack rabbit.

We kept testing Meli to see if she would come back to us when we said to...and what do ya know...she rarely did!

Daren convinced me there was no water up there, I didn't want to have to bathe the dogs once we were done. Leave it to my dogs to find the little stream of water.

Daren even made me walk across all of these logs to get across the water. I was very upset. But I was a very good sport in the end. Good excuse to burn a few extra calories ;)

I'm so happy to welcome the 2 new frozen yogurt places in town. As I mentioned before, I really like Tummi Yummi's. Me and the boys were hitting that place up quite frequently.

Of course, we had to hit up Spoon Me as well. I was a bit disappointed with my first visit...but since then have fell in love with it! I just made the mistake of putting fresh chunks of fruit(I'm anti chunks if you didn't know this about me...) Acai is DELICIOUS! Not to mention it is super healthy! I have gone now 3 times and it gets better and better each time. And I'm starting to be able to stand the enviromentally friendly spoon....
On another note, I'm a HORRIBLE mom!! Daren told me not to post this because it will make me look bad but I think it's kind of cute in a really super sad way. Before we went on one of our many walks this weekend, I decided to hurry and cut Meli's nails so on the walk it could file them down just a little bit more. Now, I need everyone to understand I have cut her nails many times, however, this time I was rushing myself and cut one WAAAAY too short. I couldn't believe how much blood was coming out. It was all over my carpet, she was running away from us so that didn't help. We finally got it to stop bleeding then went on the walk...while coming back it started bleeding again, and much worse! So we wrapped it up and she had her club foot. Daren made sure to drill it into her head(as well as mine) that I am a horrible dog owner and that she shouldn't love me anymore. HA, she loves me still!!! Thank goodness dogs have horrible short term memory!

Movie Time

After many years of hearing my dad say we were going to set up the projector and watch a video in the backyard we finally got around to it! Even with the helicopters flying over us (the mudslide) it was great. We[Kelsi, mom, and I] went to Hastings to pick out a video. We decided to go to the action isle and pick a video none of us had seen. It was an older movie called Cellular. I loved it. Sure, it was pretty ridiculous and lots of the problems could have been prevented in the beginning but I really enjoyed it!

The children wanted to haul the furniture from the downstairs outside but we didn't obviously...

Daren and AJ enjoyed the show from the hot tub. It was too cold, I didn't want to have to think of getting out after I was sick of being in it.

I think we're going to do this more often. It was really fun. I had a hard time staying up that late [HAHAHAHAHA] but I loved it. We learned what to do to make it even better next time...We won't leave lots of stuff outside to then be watered by the sprinklers in the morning. And perhaps I can convince Kelsi to buy a firepit so I can roast a few marshmallows while watching the next movie ;)

Happy Birthday America!

Doesn't look much like 4th of July festitivies huh? But it is exactly what we did over the weekend. You don't realize just how gigantic your yard is until you put in a sprinkler system. Daren's parents came up late on Thursday night to enjoy their mothers/fathers day gift, the Three Dog Night concert. We woke up early Friday morning to start working on the yard. Daren's dad trenched it with the ditch witch we rented. They thought it would only take an hour or 2. It took the full 4 hours! With a little lunch break we were back to work the rest of the day. I was out there digging the trenches like a pro! It was HOT!!! Even after 2 days of working and 4 stops at The Sprinkler Store and Home Depot...we weren't even close to being done.

I'll be honest, I'm a quite sad that I didn't get to enjoy any fireworks or anything to do with the 4th of July. Even with the Cruise-In going on you'd think I'd get a little sneak of something. I did get the hassle of driving into Logan and having to deal with all the cop stops every time I had to go anywhere. There were 20 cops at least staked out checking license plates and pulling car after car over. IT WAS A MESS! Thank you Cruise-In..... Luckily as we were working Saturday night our neighbors put on a little firework show of their own, I definitely enjoyed it!

The one thing that makes my 4th of July complete is the USU Alumni Band. My mom plays every other Sunday with them and their 4th of July concert is WONDERFUL! I love it best when they play the Armed Forces Medley. I was thankful Daren agreed to go to the concert so I could hear them play. Unfortunately, and thankfully at the same time, the marching band truck was pulling in right in front of us had a tire blow...it went FLYING across the quad, yet didn't hit my car. THANK GOODNESS!!

Anyways, I'm thankful for all the help we got on the sprinklers and I'm so glad Daren has put in a lot of time into them this week. I can just picture my grass now!

Dr. Boston's Annual Swim Night

On Thursday June 25th, my dad- the greatest dentist ever- rented out the aquatic center here in Logan and let's all the patients come swim. This is not the first year he has done this. I'm not even sure how many years he has been doing it. My guess is 6 or 7. But patients really seem to appreciate it. But little do they know, we appreciate them more ;)

He gets donuts, veggies, and brings homemade rootbeer for everyone to enjoy.

Kids really enjoy it because it's the only time you get to go and not have to wait in a long line to go down the slides.

Adults like to just sit around and talk! Boo to all other staff members at the office, I was the only swimmer in the bunch. It was a bit cold, as you can see in the pictures, but lots of people came out and enjoyed the cold water anyways!

It's What Fun Is...

LAGOON

Kelsi's work Lagoon day was this past Saturday. And us Bostonians, as you know, know how to have a good time! And check it out...Daren came along this year. I couldn't believe it either!

Yes, as you know, it was raining all day Saturday (thanks Brett Benson from Fox 13 for fooling me into believing the weather would cooperate). Thank goodness my husband is smart and told me I shouldn't wear shorts! Michael had a drivers ed meeting that morning so Daren, AJ, and I left on our own and got TONS in before the rain hit hard. White Rollercoaster, Tidal Wave, Wicked, Spider, Colossus, and the Train. As soon as Kelsi, Chris, and Michael showed up the rain began... But we went on Wicked anyways. Followed by the haunted houses...since they are inside.
We went to the arcade, which obviously is inside as well. AJ won the fuzzy ball type thing pictured below. Who would have thought an arcade could be that fun!! Daren ended up having one token left and didn't know what to do so he won 3 tickets on some machine and traded them in for a ring for me. I know it may be cheesy but it was incredibly sweet to me!

Once we were done at the arcade me and Michael hit Samurai before hitting Arby's/Subway to eat some lunch. When we were inside eating it was POURING...so we were more than ready to hit the Harris Research pavilion and wait for Bingo to start(which was like 2 hours away) I was soaked at this point so even sitting under that was really cold. Me and Daren couldn't handle it any longer so we decided to spend our money on some sort of jacket to warm us up. Can you believe I even put a thought to spending our beloved money on some sort of Lagoon souvenir? But it was FREEZING...so here are our matching sweatshirts. So hawt!

You know the good news was Lagoon was having a sale(why do they do that??) It was buy one get one FREE!!! So we only had to spend $20 to look really awesome and stay warm! Score! And yes, once we got home we realized the logo on Daren's is not centered. Even awesomer!

We played bingo...yes, I didn't win again this year. Daren won $25 bucks, so yes we won our sweatshirt money back! Then we ate some hot dogs and burgers provided by Lagoon.

Leslie and Tyler joined in for the fun...I'm wondering how much longer they stayed. We left after eating. No more rain for me!

And as you can see in the picture below...AJ's prize from the arcade didn't last in ball form too long. It was deflating so Daren cut it open with his knife (one of which he wasn't suppose to take into Lagoon...we didn't know until we had gotten in there) And it became a hat.

As you can see it was a very wet day at Lagoon....but I loved it! It was a great day. And Daren even agreed we could go again. Hip-Hip-Hooray!
