These Are A Few Of Our Favorite Things

This past weekend was eventful for Daren and I.  On Friday night, we did something that I love.  We went and saw up at USU, Sweeney Todd. I love that movie!!  The musical was pretty great as well.  Kelsi got our family tickets.  Because AJ was home very ill, Michael's friend Corey came with us. Don't these pictures rock? Who thinks I need a new camera?

On Saturday, I had surprised- and by surprised I mean, bought without Daren knowing but can't keep anything secret so told him- Daren with This Is It movie tickets.  In case you folks don't know, my husband LOVES Michael Jackson! He was devastated by his death.  I wasn't really looking forward to going to the movie.  But in the end I actually really liked it.  When we left I just felt this feeling I wanted to know everything about him.  He was redoing some music videos for his concert.  I LOVED what Thriller would have been. That man was one heck of a musician. Daren got a little emotional at times(haha, shhh...) Daren really appreciated the "surprise"

I Have A New Obsession....

My sister, Kelsi, rocks...as many of you know...and has signed up me and my brothers to be able to take advantage of one of her Netflix videos each.  They have this wonderful thing where you get to rate movies you've seen and then they come up with some recommendations.  Some of them, I wonder where on earth they came up with that particular video.  Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog was one of those.  Kelsi let me know it was one that would be coming for me...and I was thinking to myself, "Oh heavens, Daren is going to kill me for making him watch this"

Once I got it I saw it was only 43 minutes long and I knew I had picked one horrible movie. It started off really slow but once Neil Patrick Harris started singing I was hooked!!! Seriously, I LOVE this movie(and soundtrack)  I'm a huge musical geek (ps, glee is the best show ever these days isn't it!?!) and so I'm a sucker for a stupid musical.  Daren wasn't totally convinced until "Captian Hammer" sang later on in the show about everyone being a hero.  Once it was over I knew, Michael would love it equally as much as I did.  We watched it the next night and Michael and my mother were cackling, which of course makes it even funnier.

It's apparently really a internet only series. But I love it.  As I write this post I'm listening to the soundtrack I bought and hoping to watch the video many  more times.  Most of you readers probably wouldn't actually like it...it's a little too "independent" for you but I think it's hilarious. And I totally wish Neil Patrick Harris wasn't gay..

This One Is For Brian and Crystal......???

Say what, you two are probably saying to yourself?!?!  Well, I can explain in a really long way, there is a sweet 4 year old patient who has been fighting cancer for 2 months down at Primary Children's Hospital.  Back when I first had heard about her the website made for her I checked it out and they were planning a 5k run for her.  Well, really long story made short....I ran a 5k today!!! Can you believe it?!? 

(Let's all go back to when I couldn't run to my parents mailbox without dying...or when I'd question Crystal about her pace in order to be able to run longer than a minute...I was baffled truthfully...)

Originally, my coworkers were going to run it with me but they weren't able to.  I said to myself, what's keeping me from doing it on my own. So, by 9:15 this morning I was completely registered and ready to start running.  Actually, I was a nervous wreck.  It was very foreign to me and was not looking forward to looking like a newbie (and let me tell ya, it was written all over my forehead) It was a CHILLY morning here in Logan. The race didn't begin until 10.....10:30 more like it. That was a long time for my little muscles to freeze up.  I made a new friend hahahaha...I have no idea what her name is.  But due to the cold and late start getting moving(I didn't want to be one of the weird ones warming up...I stretched a little...) I was rather sluggish and got passed a lot by some very intense runners. The trail was definitely more "trailish" than the sidewalks I'm use to. Also dodging horse(I assume) poop and rocks weren't what I had thought.  Oh and the hills!! Hills?!?! Seriously! It was out at the America West Heritage place.  So, maybe some of you can visualize it. Unfortunately, I hate to run laps of any kind and that is what it ended up being a little....I was ready to give up after the first go round. Luckily, I didn't want to be the one to give up.  I knew I was one of the last and could have done better.  I kept telling myself I had to finish what I had started.  And guess what?!?! As it turns out I wasn't dead last! (trust me I doubt I would have posted had I been...) I still don't know how many, if there were not only 2, after me.  But with a time of 26:55 I won't complain.  I can always do better.  I just had to brag.  Sorry for all the posts recently.

Sorry for no pictures either, my cheering squad missed the memo. And by the time I was finished I felt awfully lame taking a picture of myself after I had just finished my first 5k! I'll give you an idea...I was number 3902, I had on two long sleeved shirts(one was the shirt they gave, my daddy's name is on it!) and my fleece jacket, with my beanie.....probably an incredibly red face and snotty nose.  Nice right?! But I bet I was still a beautiful woman, cause I got braces on ;)

A Big Shout Out To Dari!!!

I have to say thank you, thank you, thank you to Daren's cousin, Dari.  She posted about Shabby Apple and a giveaway that was going on.  Now, normally when people post of giveaways I ignore them but there was a dress I instantly fell in love with.  And I won!!!!!!!! My luck has definitely changed!

It was my little baby's birthday last week.  She is 2 years old (14 in dog years).  I guess that doesn't really make her my baby now does it? I remember it was just yesterday I posted about Kona turning 2!!!! We were going to have a huge party for her....but I forgot hahahahahahaha.  Can you believe it? I was going to buy a doggy cake(don't judge) and everything but I woke up on October 2nd and realized I had forgotten her birthday.  Bad mom. Oh well, at least you guys won't think I have a serious problem right?

I'm Back!

After much discussion on the bracesforum my blog is not allowed to be posted on the site anymore.  What a hassle!!!! So I'm not private anymore, sorry for those that missed out on the fun the past 2 weeks(has it even been that long? or has it only been a week?)  I told you I wouldn't be able to handle it! I just want to quote one of the messages I received from someone on the site

"I can understand your frustration, etc. It is "creepy" and "weird" when someone finds your pictures and links them to a forum. I've had it happen to me, I had no idea there were guys into men wearing leg casts! Odd! But then being someone attracted to woman wearing braces I could empathize. You really can't control what someone does or who views public pictures you put on the internet. I am glad you have made your pics private now, that is how they should have been in the first place!

You have to know your an attractive woman and yes, some men do find your braces interesting and dare I say attractive. Oh no! Its such an odd thing with women, if they feel some attraction back its ok. But if the guy is not someone they are interested in suddenly they become weirdos for checking out there hair, their eyes, their legs or dare I say their braces.
Next time you see a guy with a great six pack think of yourself. Braces or abs - its all the same. Your attractive, men are attracted to you. You don't get to pick which parts of you the public is allowed to be attracted too, nor will men stop just because your with a man now. Be grateful you have beauty, with or without braces. Humans are visual beings, we are going to look"

R.I.P.

The Gordon's experience a tragic couple of losses the past little bit. It has been incredibly hard but we're actually surviving quite well. 

The first (not the order, this was more recent, as of Tuesday...) one to mention is Elfonzo, our beloved beta. I never really took any pictures of him other than when we first had him.  I thought it was a little morbid to post a picture of his dead self laying at the bottom of the tank(especially since the tank was not cleanest it has ever been) People said he would only last 6 months but look he lived a hearty 1 1/2 years.  I never even remembered he was there...I think the only person to give him any kind of attention was my dear sweet nephew Xander. He sure wants a fishie, and had Elfonzo lived to see the day those Bostonians get back to Utah I'd have definitely given him to them. --Well, maybe not because there's a good chance he'd die quite soon and that may be a bit too tragic for a 3 year old?-- Rest in Peace little buddy and may Daren finally get around to cleaning out that tank!!

Now, I may get pretty choked up about this next item which bit the dust.  One fine morning I made myself toast, and I always have to microwave it after I toast it so the butter gets extra soaked in. I went to hit start and nothing....Our microwave is gone.  Daren and I have been trying to deal without it(his friends didn't have one growing up so he knows it can be done) It was hard at first and we do sometimes forget about it so we get things all ready to microwave but no such luck.  I don't know when (and if...??) we'll get another one.  Good grief I'm already shelling out a lot for the yard(no we missed seeding before that SNOW storm, bummer dude) Nothing screams gormet like having to boil your water on the stove to make yourself a cup of noodles!

It's Autumn Time

And you know what that means?! A whole lot of fun things!! One good thing to ring in the wonderful new season is TECS Fall Festival- my mom's school- We went last year and if you remember it was a good time then.  It's complete with a bake sale....(no fake sushi this year...)

Rides and games- this first ride picture looks horrible doesn't it? Using your arms to get you to spin sounds horrific to me....

Then, of course, there is the super fantastic silent auction!!  There were some definite scores this year.  They had this cd player that connected to your treadmill somehow- we didn't win on it though.

They had gift certificates taped to tables and the walls- There were a few $25 Texas Roadhouse and people ended up paying like $45 for them.  Craziness!!

Here is what I ended up winning at the silent auction. A Scentsy, along with 2 scents and a car freshener, Wrist Weights, A metal box(not pictured, I left it at my parents on accident) and a beautiful watercolor.  Alright, I don't really love the watercolor but last year I got screwed out of so many of the things I wanted...so I thought I'd teach Mrs. Jackson a lesson for going around and uping all the bids.  Unfortunately as soon as I uped her bids she left. 

You know what else is a glorious thing that the changing season brings? FOOTBALL!! I love my USU Aggies!  After an almost mishap with the tickets this year- we got the season tickets.  Same spot and it is super wonderful.

AJ told me we could take a picture only once they made a touchdown...little did he know they'd make MORE than one!! Go Aggies!

The half time took forever! My mom throughally enjoyed the band.  I really enjoyed that they had Chili's chips and salsa this year.  I also enjoyed myself a wonderful hot dog! yummmm....

The final score ended up being 53-34! There is some definite changes in the Aggies this year and I can not wait to see just how wonderful this season pans out for them.
