July

I have had a really busy July! But I haven't quite figured out the best way to carry my camera around everywhere I go. One day...

We had a fire in my parents back yard on the 2nd so we could watch the stadium fireworks.  I forget how much I hate the smell of fire.  But nothing is better than a roasted marshmallow.  I'm not patient enough though to get it to that perfect golden brown. Bummer.

I had the whole week off after the 4th because my dad had meetings in New Orleans.  I got caught up on so many things around the house.  And TV :)

My dad surprised Michael with a "really awesome gaming computer" I, of course, was in on the whole thing.  I even got the info needed from Michael for what his dream computer would need.  I don't think I have ever seen Michael so excited.  It was sweet.

I went to a play at the Lyric theater with Whit and her mom.  We went and saw Blithe Spirit.  It was a good time! Whit is getting married in October and having her and Anita talk about her wedding is a hoot!

The next night I went to the Sound of Music at the Ellen Eccles Theater.  We went out to eat at Iron Gate Grill first.  It wasn't as disappointing as I thought it was going to be, dinner not the show.  The show was STUPENDOUS! But I really love the Sound of Music.  I felt so mature and I don't know the other word for going to two performances in a row.

Then over this past weekend we went to Lagoon! yay! I think Disneyland changed Daren's mind about amusement parks. I was hesitant to go this year but he was determined to go.
It was a HOT day! Thankfully, it was pretty cloudy so it was a muggy heat and not super sunny.

It was Kelsi, Chris, Mikey, AJ and us.  It was for Kelsi's work and once again I DID NOT WIN AT BINGO! Seriously, everyone else did.  It was no fun. But we finished the day off by going to Maddox for dinner. Yum!
Look at my grass! I really didn't think it was growing that much until I saw the picture from the last time I posted it. This picture was actually even taken about 2 weeks ago.  I'm impressed!

My Feet Are Aching

Weddings are A LOT of work... Especially if you are sister of the bride, it's being held in your parents backyard, and you were the chosen one to be in charge.  The day ran smoothly, if I do say so myself.
I can't wait to see all the pictures that they had taken, I was far too busy to even think of it so this is just a teaser of what actually happened!

I have to give a big thanks to Kelley and Andria for helping out SO much!  And here's to it being the last sister of the bride wedding!!!
Congrats Kelsi and Chris!!! I hope I made it as perfect as possible!

Burn Out

I am currently experiencing  some major burn out.  I am (feel) incredibly overworked and lazy. I actually believe it all stemmed from Insanity.  Alright, I can't put all the blame on that.  I think I tried hard to do everything.  I finally see the light when people have a hard time putting themselves first.  There are a lot of things that have taken priority....
 Kelsi's Wedding
Don't you love this picture of studly Michael.  He was mad...notice he took my phone away because I was trying to take his picture.

More of Kelsi's Wedding...
We tied the balloons onto Charlie...he was terrified and it was adorable
My yard....
OH MY HECK! Grow grass grow.  But look how fantastic it looks thus far? I mowed the entire yard(well mostly) over the weekend and it wore me out.  What will I do when it's actual grass and not just weeds. Those suckers grow quickly and spread like wildfire. One day I'll have a beautiful yard ;)

My dogs....
I really want to get back into the running thing.  But I can't justify not taking my dogs on a walk...they deserve it and it is just as good as a run I suppose.  But the weather isn't cooperating with that either....

But really, I can't bring myself to do anything.  And I'm kind of a brat these days. So I apologize for it ;)  And really Kelsi's wedding hasn't taken over my life.  Nothing has...I don't do anything.  I'm just too dang lazy and burnt out to do anything.  It's a miracle I remembered to get some laundry done over the weekend.  Hopefully one of these days I'll get my head screwed on straight.

Next post hopefully I'll have a picture two snazzy girls(me and my niece Audrey) in our really snazzy dresses I made! Everyone pray for good weather please!

What A Weekend

Seth and Megan came for a visit this past weekend.  They came up so Seth could go turkey hunting with Daren.  The boys woke up at 3:30 to go out.  That's WAAAAY too early! We got to go to Texas Roadhouse that night though.  I love that place!

Oh Daren and his smile.
On Saturday Kelsi's friends, Ashley and Katie, threw her a bridal shower.  What a great bridal shower.  There were wontons, you can't go wrong with wontons! And, of course, us Boston's know how to party.
I loved the gifts Kelsi got. She finally got the quesadilla maker she's been dying for.  I also loved how embarrassed Leslie got at the gift she bought for Kelsi. Kelsi didn't get embarrassed.
Kennady got to be one of the ladies with us! She didn't want to know what happened on the wedding night. She was so cute when she got a little embarrassed.
After the shower we headed to Kelsi's apartment to look at Kelsi's bridals I got to be the assistant and help them with them.  You should go look at them and leave a comment.  They are super fantastic!

And most importantly, I got my braces off!!!!! Did anyone really notice in the previous pictures?  Kennady also got her braces off this week.  How wonderful it is to be able to eat whatever I want and not worry it's getting stuck in them.  Or do you know how great it is to be able to floss regularly?  Corn on the cob is just calling my name!!

It's So Close I'm Letting It Slide

I said at the first of the year I was determined to go on a vacation with Daren, just the two of us.  We got the opportunity at the last minute to join my dad, once again, for the California Dental Meetings.  It may not have just been the two of us but we got to spend the day all alone in Disneyland and I can't complain I'm counting it! Daren is not a traveler it may never happen again.

We drove all night on Wednesday and got there bright and early on Thursday.  We went to Newport Beach. Daren was loving all the guys fishing along the pier.  I was just loving not being in the car ;)
For lunch on Thursday we went to Mrs. Knott's Chicken Restaurant.  It was soooo filling.  I couldn't eat the rest of the day.  Daren was overwhelmed with the amount of food that was in front of him.

I've been counting down the days until Daren and I got to go to Disneyland together.  I seriously was starting to doubt it would ever happen.  He was not nearly as excited as I was.  Ok, let's be honest, he was dreading it.  He doesn't like rides so obviously it's not exactly the best place for him.  He loved Thunder Mountain Railroad, I really don't know the name of it but you know the ride, surprisingly. He even said after Indiana Jones, he was having a minor panic attack before the ride, that it was "weak".  Go figure. He was determined to have this picture with the duck taken...him and his love of wildlife.

I think the biggest hit of Disneyland for him was that they brought back the Michael Jackson Captain EO 3-D movie.  He was on cloud nine watching that bizarre show.  I vaguely remembered parts of it as a child...the flying cat thing or whatever.  But that was seriously some strange show.  Daren wants it on video now.  Oh brother....
I had heard so much about the Buzz Lightyear ride, I've been avoiding it since it came out, and figured I might as well go on it with Daren.  You shoot things, he likes to shoot things.  But unfortunately both of us left disappointed.  His score was much more impressive then mine though at the end.
I even thought he'd like Small World.  I haven't been on that ride probably in 10 years.  I HATE that ride.  As soon as we got on the ride he turned to me expressing how much he also didn't like the ride.  Go figure(once again...) Other things I was sure he'd love that was a big miss was The Tiki Room and Finding Nemo Submarine ride.  He loves fish and birds but it didn't do it for him.
I loved that I got to finally share something that I love, seriously obsessed with, with Daren.  It was a wonderful experience.  We didn't eat at Blue Bayou.  I didn't think Daren would be ok with spending that much on lunch.  However, we ate at the Hungry Bear place.  Next time I'm going to make him go.  He was thankful to not go cause he couldn't imagine eating somewhere where it "smelled like water" Silly guy.
The restaurant next to our hotel is always a big hit with me.  Po Folks.  We ate dinner that night there and then me and my dad ate there the following more.  Daren once again was overwhelmed with the amounts of food in front of him.  I'm the only one who pretty much finished my food. Yay me!
The reason Daren didn't join us for breakfast is he woke up really early, 4:30, to go fish off the pier.  He was so excited.  He did end up catching two little buggers. I couldn't believe how thrilled he was about catching those two.
Once again, him and his wildlife.  He loved the sea otters that were hanging out down by the pier.  There was a little boy that caught fish and then threw them down to the sea otters.  I have to admit it was pretty adorable!

I got myself a carameled apple...Yum!!! This picture is so bad I had to share it.  Daren loves fishing and I love food.  It shows our true colors ;)
Overall, the trip was a success.  I'm glad to be back home Californians scare me.  I'm very thankful my mother, even with a migraine, helped out and took care of our pups.

Happy Birthday to Daren!

It was Daren's birthday this week.   I asked him time and time again what he wanted to do.  He kept brushing off the question.  I don't know what is wrong with him but he like hates birthdays or something.  Daren has been helping my dad with the deck up at their house so that's what he WANTED to do that night.  Crazy kid.  We did get to go to Rumbi Grill before we went up there.  It was our first time...he hated his food.  Then I had made him his birthday cheesecake, which he didn't want.  I even went and bought 28 candles just for the occasion, which he didn't really want to blow out.  His birthday just was another day...bummer dude.  Not to mention all the troubles he's having with the DMV and renewing his license, which is still not solved.  This birthday was just no fun for him.  But I sure made him blow out the candles.  He didn't think I was brave enough to sing to him...so we left that part out too.
In other news, I had such a busy week last week. I was even planning a big 2 years in our house post to show all the changes that have been made but things just didn't quite go as planned in the Boston family. And now it just seems to silly to post.  Oh well.  So Happy 2 Years House!

I want a piano! I practiced my brains out last week and seriously, I never realized how much I missed it the past 5 years, can't believe it's been that long! I'm determined to get one.  Andria always is so surprised that when I want something I find a way...I hope it happens again.

Also, here's another one of those moments I was so happy to catch with the camera.  I love my dogs!

My First Camping Trip

Hi, my name is Meli.  This past weekend I got to go camping with my family.  It was so much fun I wanted to be the one to share it with you(just look at the look on my face).  I got to run around freely, without a leash.  My mom nearly had a heart attack with all the dirt, but I did really well.  I didn't even bark at the screaming children like I normally do.  My mom didn't want to go but we were so happy to finally get to spend a weekend together without my dad being gone on some fishing excursion.  One of the best things is everyone likes to give us human food so I got to try many new and wonderful things.  There was even bacon cooking and I got to have the grease drip on my face.  So much fun!

My sister, Kona, got to run behind the 4-wheelers.  She was super tired. She liked playing fetch with Keldon and Wayce.  She didn't do as good as I did, she barked when kids rode the bikes or toy trackers.  She has a new boyfriend named Hank. We slept in the tent as a family....with AJ.  My mom was the only one who didn't freeze to death.  She was really proud of herself for being such a good sport.

I got to watch AJ ride a dirt bike for the first time. If only his mother saw him. She would freak out.  He also watched a lot of explosions.   The girls in the family, we stayed in the trailer because we don't like loud noises.
Me and Kona are still really tired.  We got a good workout.  My mom is happy so she doesn't have to walk us and continue doing the Insanity workouts.   I really hope my mom agrees to going some other time camping....I think she just might ;)
